Olympiakos wins ahead of league derby

Olympiakos thrashed Peristeri away from home on Saturday in a result that left it alone at the top of the Basket League table as Panathinaikos sat this round of games out, one week before the two giants are scheduled to clash in Piraeus.

The Reds defeated Peristeri 87-55 to go two points clear at the top having played one more match than Panathinaikos. Giorgos Printezis scored 20 points for Olympiakos.

Kolossos is on the same number of points as Panathinaikos and also has one game more, after defeating lowly Ikaros Kallitheas 78-64 on Rhodes on the same day.

Kavala leapt over AGO Rethymnou on Sunday by beating the Cretan club away with an 83-80 score in a very entertaining game.

Cash-strapped and still winless Maroussi has all but bid goodbye to the top flight after losing at home to Ilisiakos with an 89-81 score.

In other weekend action, Aris grabbed a morale-boosting win over visiting KAO Dramas 77-70 at home and Panionios kept up the chase on Kolossos with a 69-59 win over PAOK in Nea Smyrni.
