AEK pays for Manolas red card
AEK paid for the totally needless second yellow card to defender Costas Manolas by dropping two points at home to OFI Crete (1-1) in the only Super League game that took place this weekend.
The match was played behind closed doors at the Olympic Stadium on Sunday as AEK failed for a second week to secure tax clearance to issue tickets for this game of the 22nd round that had been postponed for that reason from February 18.
AEK led at the 55th minute through a Nikos Liberopoulos header, but three minutes later the hosts were left with 10 men as Manolas received his marching orders for a pointless foul close to the halfway line.
OFI made the most of its numerical advantage to equalize at the 67th minute through a Jordi Lopez shot.
The encounter was particularly slow but both sides had a shot each denied by the goal frame.
There were no other games over the weekend as the Super League had postponed the 23rd round in protest for the new sports law.
Four days earlier OFI had advanced to the semifinals of the Greek Cup by beating second-division Panserraikos 2-0 at home. The Iraklio team will face Olympiakos in the semis.
The other semifinal will be between Asteras Tripolis and Atromitos, after The Tripoli club saw off Kerkyra with a 1-0 score on Wednesday.
