Big Sofo dons the green jersey

Greek international forward Sofoklis Schortsanitis is returning to Greece, after signing a three-year contract with cup winner Panathinaikos on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old center had been courted by Panathinaikos in the summer of 2010, but eventually the then coach of the Greens, Zeljko Obradovic, had decided against signing the Cameroon-born player.

On Tuesday Panathinaikos and the player agreed on a contract that the two sides signed on Wednesday, as the club announced.

The former Aris, Iraklis and Olympiakos star spent the last couple of seasons at Maccabi Tel Aviv, becoming an admittedly more composed and useful player than ever with the Israeli giant.

“Big Sofo», who became a father in February, is missing the national team’s efforts to qualify for the 2012 Olympics due to knee surgery he underwent in May.

Schortsanitis?s signing follows that of Greek international shooting guard/small forward Mike Bramos, who also inked a three-year contract with the Greens.
