Ikaros shocks Panathinaikos in the A1
Panathinaikos suffered its second loss in four A1 league games on Sunday, as lowly Ikaros Kallitheas upset the Greens at Glyfada with a 72-68 score, effectively rendering Olympiakos the hot favorite to end the regular season at the top of the table.
While the loss to Olympiakos two weeks earlier was hardly an upset, going down at Ikaros is sending shockwaves across the Panathinaikos ranks and should spell major changes to its roster at least in the new week.
Olympiakos scored its fourth win in as many matches, thrashing KAO Dramas 103-67 at home on Sujnday, but is not alone on top as Panionios also won for the fourth time, beating Kolossos Rhodes 89-77 on Saturday.
Apollon Patras grabbed its first victory after earning promotion back to the A1, downing visiting Kavala 80-79.
In other games Aris defeated new boys Panelefsiniakos 85-76 away, PAOK saw off Peristeri 83-68 at Thessaloniki and AGO Rethymnou returned from Ilisiakos with a 72-66 triumph.
