Katsouranis agrees to move to PAOK

Greece international midfielder Costas Katsouranis will return to action next month with PAOK, as the former Panathinaikos star has agreed to a contract for 18 months, the Thessaloniki club announced on Tuesday.

Reports from Thessaloniki suggest that the defensive midfielder, who ended his contract with Panathinaikos by common consent in October, will get 700,000 euros for this year and a half, plus any bonuses.

It forms part of the policy of the new PAOK owner, Ivan Savvidis, who insisted on the acquisition of Greek internationals in order to boost both the strength of the roster and the prestige of the club.

Katsouranis will be able to play for PAOK form January 1, but coach Giorgos Donis is eager to have him train with the team as soon as possible so that the player can get into the squad’s spirit and style of playing in time for his first game next month.

Katsouranis has 100 caps for Greece and besides Panathinaikos he has also played for Panachaiki, AEK and Benfica.
