Panathinaikos stuffed in Turkey

Panathinaikos suffered a heavy defeat at Anadolu Efes on Thursday with a 78-64 score, its first loss in two games at the top 16 of the Euroleague.

The Istanbul side dominated the game from start to finish as Panathinaikos missed its injured captain Dimitris Diamantidis badly, while most of its other stars performed well below their potential on the night.

With major problems in attack and the only credible solution being Sofoklis Schortsanitis, coach Argyris Pedoulakis will feel rather satisfied that the margin of defeat in the end was at 14 points, having trailed by up to 21 points in the second half.

Mike Bramos had a good first half for Panathinaikos, scoring three three-pointers, but in the second half he joined the rest of the squad in having a mediocre as well as forgettable night in Turkey.

Bramos notched up 16 points, while Schortsanitis contributed another 15 for Panathinaikos.
