Asteras, Panthrakikos join Olympiakos, PAOK in semis

There were no upsets in the return legs of the Greek Cup quarterfinals, but Panthrakikos made history as it reached the semis of the competition for the first time in its history.

The side from Komotini scored a second 1-0 win over Veria on Wednesday, this time at home, thanks to a goal by Achilleas Sarakatsanos, for a 2-0 aggregate score.

Panthrakikos will play holder Olympiakos in the semifinals on April 18 and 28, as the Reds strolled at home to a 2-0 win over PAS Giannina. Yiannis Maniatis and Djamel Abdoun scored on Wednesday for Olympiakos who had also won 1-0 at Ioannina.

On Thursday Asteras Tripolis set up a semifinal clash with PAOK, beating Platanias 3-1 at home. Leading Asteras to its third semifinal in five years were the goals by Fernando Usero, Pablo De Blasis and Christos Kalantzis. Igor Mirceta had equalized for Platanias, who has also lost 2-1 at home.

Last week PAOK snatched a goalless draw at Levadiakos, having won the first leg 2-0 at home.
