PAS Giannina stuns PAOK at Toumba

PAS Giannina upset PAOK at Thessaloniki on Sunday to take the lead at the Super League play-offs, while Asteras Tripolis rebounded from its loss at Ioannina in midweek to defeat Atromitos at home.

PAOK was rather dominant in the match at Toumba and even hit the woodwork in the 83rd minute, but it was PAS Giannina that got to score, through Andi Lila two minutes from time, for a 1-0 final score.

PAOK fans gathered outside the locker room after the game to protest against the players whom they consider to show indifference.

At Tripoli, Asteras came from behind to beat Atromitos 2-1. The Peristeri club took the lead halfway through the first half with Stefano Napoleoni. Asteras equalized through a Ruben Rayos penalty and won the game courtesy of a Christos Kalatzis goal in the 63rd minute.

PAS Giannina is top of the mini-table with six points, Asteras is second with five, PAOK is still on four and Atromitos is last with three points. On Wednesday Asteras hosts PAOK and PAS Giannina entertains Atromitos.

The winner of the round-robin playoffs advances to the Champions League qualifiers, while the other three teams will represent Greece in the Europa league.

Meanwhile, Levadiakos has reached a deal with coach Takis Lemonis. The former Olympiakos and Panionios coach is returning to Livadia from next season.
