Douvalidis clocks national record in 110 m hurdles

Costas Douvalidis broke his own national record in 110 meter hurdles on Saturday in the context of the national championship by clocking 13.34 seconds.

The Greek hurdler had registered the previous record of 13.37 secs a year earlier at the European Championships in Helsinki.

Douvalidis said after his new record that he is aiming at a time under 13.30 secs in order to make the final of the World Championships in Moscow next month.

There were several other notable performances by Greek athletes in the national championship that took place at the Olympic Stadium of Athens during the weekend, with high-jumper Costas Baniotis clearing 2.32 meters on Saturday.

Then on Sunday Louis Tsatoumas measured 8.23 meters in the long jump, Costas Filippidis cleared 5.80 m. in pole vault and Athanasia Perra reached 14.38 m. in the women’s triple jump.
