Greece faces Eurobasket exit after falling short against host Slovenia

Greece looks set to miss out on a place in the Eurobasket quarter finals after losing 73-65 to host Slovenia in Ljubljana on Saturday night.

The Greek side mounted a brave comeback in the third and fourth quarters after trailing the Slovenians by as much as 26 points at one stage.

Greece scored 31 points in the final 12 minutes against 34 in the first 28 but it proved too little too late for Andrea Trinchieri’s men and Greece now has to beat Croatia in its final game on Monday and hope that Italy beats Spain.

Earlier, Croatia beat Italy 76-68 to clinch its place in the quarterfinals. European champion Spain thrashed Finland 82-56 but will miss out on a place in the quarterfinals if it loses to Italy and Greece beats Croatia.
