Asteras Tripolis parts ways with coach Tsiolis

Two more managerial heads rolled after the sixth round of Super League games, as Asteras Tripolis parted ways with Sakis Tsiolis and Veria resorted to its second coach sacking of the season by ditching Ton Caanen.

While Dutchman Caanen got to spend just a few weeks at Veria, Tsiolis spent nearly two years at the Peloponnesian club and even reached the Greek Cup final last spring. There has been no confirmation of either successor.

Asteras announced that the departure of Tsiolis was by common consent. Earlier this season reports had suggested that the Greek manager was unhappy with the transfer strategy of the club.

Meanwhile Atromitos moved up to fifth in the Super league table on Monday by beating Kalloni Lesvou 1-0 at the Olympic Stadium of Athens that the Lesvos team is still using until its own ground is ready to host Super League fixtures.

Atromitos won courtesy of a Dimitris Papadopoulos penalty kick, although manager Giorgos Paraschos had asked for another of his players to take the kick. Later Paraschos promised to punish Papadopoulos.

Earlier in the evening Platanias and Panthrakikos shared a 1-1 draw at Hania.
