PAOK alone on top as KAOD stops Panionios

PAOK is left alone on top of the Basket League after three rounds of games as Panionios suffered its first loss of the season in all competitions going down at KAO Dramas. Panathinaikos and Olympiakos scored easy wins.

In its first ever victory at Rethymno, PAOK downed local AGOR 81-64 on Saturday to retain its perfect record in the league and become the only team on six points.

The win of the weekend though belongs to KAOD which downed Panionios 76-63 and showed it will comfortably stay up this season, having just scored its second win in three games. US guard Lazeric Jones scored 20 points for the Macedonian team.

Panathinaikos and Olympiakos had no problems against minor opposition, as the Greens downed Trikala 88-68 on Monday (having led by up to 39 points early in the third period) and the Reds dismissed Ikaros Halkidas 99-61 on Saturday in Piraeus behind closed doors.

Panelefsiniakos scored its first win of the season beating Ilisiakos 73-58, in a result that is giving the Elefsina team a good chance for a superior head-to-head record in case the two struggling clubs end up level on points.

Aris was challenged all the way in Thessaloniki by promoted Nea Kifissia and only won 67-65 thanks to young playmaker Nikos Gikas who scored 17 points at the Nick Galis Hall.

Finally in Patra local Apollon defeated Kolossos Rhodes 76-66 on Sunday.
