Aris scores first home win this season

Aris took a much-needed first step toward safety on Monday beating Panionios 1-0 in Thessaloniki in what was only its first home win this season.

David Aganzo scored in the 58th minute to give the host all three points and drag Panionios into the relegation battle, too.

The Thessaloniki Yellows remain bottom of the table, five points from the play-out spot, but at least they can retain their hopes for survival after finally grabbing that elusive first victory at the Kleanthis Vikelidis Stadium.

In Monday’s other Super League game, OFI had Dudu Cearense, formerly of Olympiakos, scoring the game’s only goal that was enough for the Cretan team to down sixth-placed Panthrakikos 1-0 at Iraklio.

OFI is now joint ninth with fellow Iraklio club Ergotelis.
