Panathinaikos brings in coach Ivanovic

Panathinaikos announced on Tuesday the hiring of Montenegrin coach Dusko Ivanovic for the next couple of years, as the Greek champion and cup holder has chosen to revert to a tried and tested solution instead of extending the spell of its former captain Frangiskos Alvertis on its bench.

The former Limoges, Taugres and Barcelona coach arrived in Athens on Monday and agreed terms with Panathinaikos president Dimitris Giannakopoulos on Tuesday.

“It is a great pleasure for me to be here in Athens and at Panathinaikos. This is one of the biggest clubs in Europe. Everything here is big: Organization, history, fans, titles. It is a real joy but also a great motive for me to be here, for a new project in which we will incorporate new players and future stars,” said Ivanovic, who sits on the bench of the national team of Bosnia.

Sources say that the 56-year-old coach will get an annual salary close to 500,000 euros.
