Aris coach Giorgos Firos resigned yesterday in protest at the dire state of the club’s finances. A campaign for donations by prominent supporters and ordinary fans allowed the Thessaloniki soccer club to qualify for participation in next year’s soccer league, but there is no money left to pay the coaching staff and players, some of whom have not been paid for the past eight months.
