Olympiakos ends PAOK’s unbeaten run in Basket League

Olympiakos put an end to PAOK’s unbeaten run in the Basket League with an emphatic win at the Peace and Friendship Stadium, leaving Panathinaikos as the only team with a perfect record so far this season.

Vassilis Spanoulis scored 15 points in 21 minutes to lead the Reds to an 80-55 victory on Sunday as PAOK was a match for Olympiakos only up to the start of the second quarter, with the score at 19-19.

Panathinaikos, who is one point behind Olympiakos but with a game in hand, had AJ Slaughter on fire as he notched up 28 points in the Greens’ 86-55 home win over KAO Dramas on Sunday.

With coach Dragan Sakota on its bench, AEK upset host Nea Kifissia (victor of Olympiakos earlier this season) by five, 80-75, while Kolossos Rhodes edged out Aris at Thessaloniki winning by 12 (77-65) on Saturday.

Panelefsiniakos suffered a reverse at home despite its recent improvement, but AGO Rethymnou was clearly too strong for the Elefsina team and won 80-70.

Panionios scored its first win of the season, downing promoted Korivos Amaliadas 74-69 with 23 points from Russian Yaroslav Korolev, and Apollon scored an 83-70 victory over Trikala in Patra.
