Katerina Thanou (r) failed to win a medal at a major track and field event for the first time since 1997 when she finished fifth in the 100 meter at the World Athletics Championships, in Paris, yesterday. The winner, Kelli White of the USA, clocked 10.85 seconds to Thanou’s 11.03. Chandra Sturrup (l) of the Bahamas finished fourth.
