Tremendous Spanoulis sweeps Laboral Kutxa

A hot second half was enough for Olympiakos to undo visiting Laboral Kutxa and score its fourth win in as many games at the second round of the Euroleague on Friday. The 76-64 final score was the result of what the cliche of “a game of two halves” is meant to describe.

Led by an impressive Vassilis Spanoulis, scorer of 27 points on the night, Olympiakos preserved its perfect record in the top-16 against a side that usually troubles the Piraeus team.

The Reds came back from nine points down at half-time (37-28), after 20 minutes when they suffered in rebounds and in their shooting rate, only to score an amazing 48-27 partial score in the second half and turn the game on its head.

The team of coach Yiannis Sferopoulos shut out the Basques for long periods in the second half, with the visitors being unable to hit the target or contain Spanoulis, who notched up 20 points in the second half alone.

Othello Hunter shook off his recent injury to score 14 points, second only to Spanoulis on the night.
