AEK docked three points for fan violence
Greek second-division side AEK Athens on Friday was deducted three points by the Greek football federation for a pitch invasion by its fans earlier this month.
The disciplinary committee of the federation also ordered AEK to play two matches behind closed doors and fined the club 17,000 euros.
The action was taken after the pitch invasion during the Greek Cup quarter-final match between AEK and Olympiakos at the Athens Olympic Stadium with one minute remaining in the game.
About 25 AEK supporters ran onto the pitch before throwing objects and chasing Olympiakos players following a 89th-minute goal by midfielder Franco Jara that gave the visitors a decisive 1-0 lead.
The Olympiakos players immediately headed to the locker rooms. They were soon followed by match officials and AEK players.
Over half an hour later, officials announced that the game would not resume and Olympiakos would automatically progress to the semi-finals, being awarded a 3-0 decision.
The violence led Deputy Sports Minister Stavros Kontonis to ban spectators from Super League matches for the following weekend for the second time this season.
