National water polo team succumbs to Hungary
After a very satisfactory performance in the preliminary group stage of the World League, the annual tournament of the cream of the world’s water polo national teams, Greece bowed out on Tuesday losing to group winners Hungary away.
The Greek men’s national team went down 12-11 at Gyor to finish runner-up to its host that enjoyed a perfect record in the group.
Greece collected 12 points from six games with four wins and two losses.
The team of coach Thodoris Vlachos is now turning its attention to preparing for the World Championship to take place later this year in Kazan, Russia. On the strength of its World League showings, it has a good chance of doing well at the Worlds.
