Rethymno defeats in-form AEK on Crete

AGO Rethymnou put an end to a positive string of results for in-form AEK, while PAOK survived a strong challenge by Kolossos Rhodes in Thessaloniki in yet another exciting weekend of basketball action in the A1 league, even without the two giants, Panathinaikos and Olympiakos playing.

Rethymno edged out AEK with an 80-79 victory at home to climb to the sixth spot after coming from behind in a very entertaining game on Saturday on Crete.

PAOK edged ever closer to snatching the third spot in the regular season after seeing off ambitious Kolossos with a 77-72 score at home on Monday. The visitors complained about a number of referee calls.

Korivos Amaliadas beat neighboring Apollon Patras for the first time in its history, with a 74-68 score, while KAO Dramas staked a claim for a play-off spot (i.e. in the top eight of the regular season) defeating Nea Kifissia 67-51 at home.

Aris prevailed over host Trikala 81-74, and Panelefsiniakos defeated Panionios 95-94 at Nea Smyrni in the game between the two teams that have already been relegated.

The derby between Panathinaikos and Olympiakos has been postponed to Saturday, May 2 due to the games they both had to play in the Euroleague play-offs.

On Tuesday Panathinaikos will visit Aris and Olympiakos will host Panionios in the games postponed from the previous round.
