Christou gets bronze in European Aquatics

Apostolos Christou earned Greece’s first medal in the European Aquatics Championships in London finishing third in the 100 meters backstroke final on Tuesday.
The Greek champion managed to climb on the podium in his participation in the Euro Champs in his career, after excelling in the qualifying, when he clocked the second best time (53.77 seconds), and recording the best time in the semifinals (53.36 seconds).
In the final the 19-year-old finished third with a time of 54.19 seconds, a dead heat with Italian Simone Sabbioni who was also awarded a bronze medal.
Another Greek, Panayiotis Samilidis, finished fifth in the 100m. breaststroke final.
