Sports Digest: No away fans in Croatia vs Greece play-offs

SOCCER: Media in Croatia reported on Thursday there will be no away fans in the Croatia vs Greece play-offs for a spot in the World Cup finals, for fear of trouble. The first leg is scheduled for November 9 in Zagreb and the return is on November 12 in Piraeus.

SOCCER: Some 10,000 PAOK fans attended the Super League leader’s open training session on Thursday to boost the morale of the team ahead of the important game in Piraeus against champion Olympiakos on Sunday evening.

VOLLEYBALL: The domestic season begins in the men’s game on Friday with the start of the League Cup, with the 12 top-flight teams split in four groups across Greece, but it was the women’s team of Aris Thessaloniki that stole the show on the day with its signing of Cuban international Liannes Castaneda Simon, the top scorer in the Champions League in the 2015-16 season.
