PAOK fans protest against court punishment

About 3,000 PAOK supporters marched peacefully through Thessaloniki on Thursday to protest against the Greek title contender’s punishment for fan violence.

The supporters chanted slogans against Athens-based teams in the march organized by the Thessaloniki club.

On Monday, a sports court deducted three points from PAOK and ordered its next two home games to be played behind closed doors after Olympiakos coach Oscar Garcia was hit in the face by a roll of paper thrown from the stands in a match on Feb. 25.

The court awarded Olympiakos victory but PAOK will appeal against Monday’s ruling on Friday.

AEK Athens is top of the league with 54 points, followed by PAOK on 52 and Piraeus-based Olympiakos on 47. [AP]
