Olympiakos regains lead with big win

Olympiakos reclaimed the first division’s lead after trouncing visitor Larissa 4-0 Monday night. Yiannis Okkas, Predrag Djordjevic and Haruna Babangida scored for the defending league champion, along with an own goal from Larissa’s Nikos Dabizas. After 13 rounds, Olympiakos had 33 points, one ahead of AEK, which earned a provisional lead with a 1-0 win at OFI on Saturday. Olympiakos, eliminated from the Champions League, went ahead in the 18th minute. Okkas’s angled shot hit the post and Dabizas accidentally sent the rebound into his own net. In the 38th, Rivaldo’s long-range ball was again picked up inside the area by Okkas, whose lob went over goalkeeper Stefanos Kotsolis’s head. It was the Cyprus striker’s fourth league goal of the season. The host grabbed a third in the 69th after a left-foot rocket from captain Djordjevic, and Babangida closed an easy win with his goal 10 minutes from the end. (AP)
