Rivaldo ready to take on Panathinaikos
BARCELONA (Reuters) – Barcelona’s Brazilian forward Rivaldo has been given the green light to play in tomorrow’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Panathinaikos, the Catalan club announced yesterday. The Brazilian international missed the club’s last three games as well as Brazil’s recent World Cup warm-up match against Yugoslavia because of an ankle sprain sustained during his side’s 1-1 draw against Real Madrid on March 16. Club doctors said the 29-year-old player, who has been plagued by injury problems this season, had recovered sufficiently to be included in the squad that will travel to Greece today. Fellow Brazilian Fabio Rochemback and Dutch winger Marc Overmars have also been included in the squad after shaking off minor injury worries.
