French newcomer outplays Baghdatis
Cypriot tennis player Marcos Baghdatis lost to unseeded Frenchman Gilles Simon in Sunday’s final of the Marseille Open in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6. It was Simon’s first ATP title. He did not drop a single set in the tournament. Playing yesterday, Greece’s Eleni Daniilidou defeated seventh-seeded Li Na of China in the first round of the Dubai Open.
