Daniilidou stages upset in first round

AMELIA ISLAND (Reuters) – Eleni Daniilidou caused the biggest upset on the opening day of the Amelia Island championship in Florida when she cruised to a 6-0, 6-4 victory over French 10th seed Marion Bartoli on Monday. The 24-year-old raced through the match in 71 minutes to set up a second-round encounter against either Aiko Nakamura of Japan or another Frenchwoman, Nathalie Dechy.
