Olympiakos faces Honved in pool
Olympiakos, through to waterpolo’s Euroleague quarterfinals following a 14-10 win over Barcelona last weekend, will now meet Hungary’s Honved Budapest to fight for a place in the competition’s semifinals. The Piraeus club, which was crowned European champion five seasons ago, will play host to its Hungarian opponent on May 9 before traveling to Budapest for the two-leg quarterfinal’s decider on May 23. In the other quarterfinal matches, Italy’s Posillipo Napoli will meet Partizan Belgrade, Brescia is pitted against Pro Recco, and Vasas plays Jug Dubrovnik. Ethnikos and Panionios, Greece’s other Euroleague representatives, were both eliminated in group play leading to the quarterfinals.
