New warning for overweight star
In a new warning to its talented but overweight forward Sofoklis Schortsanitis, Olympiakos will deprive the sidelined basketballer of a monthly salary as he failed a fitness test. The 2.06-meter player, believed to weigh about 180 kilos, or 30 kilos more than he should, missed Greece’s Eurobasket appearance last month but vowed a swift return for the domestic league, starting Saturday. Schortsanitis, one of Greece’s stars in its silver-medal performance at the 2006 Worlds, is believed to be contemplating a premature end at Olympiakos. His contract expires in 2010.
