Another coaching change at Xanthi

Super League soccer club Xanthi have sacked their second coach this year, Belgian Emilio Ferrera, who was appointed last July in place of Norwegian Jorn Andersen. The provincial team from northern Greece has appointed Nikos Kehayias, a former player at the club, as the new coach at Xanthi, a consistent performer in recent seasons. Kehayias had filled in as caretaker coach for four months during the latter part of the previous season. This latest appointment, the club said, was not temporary. The club’s new coach will be on the bench for Xanthi’s game on Sunday against AEK, the league front runner. Xanthi began the new season promisingly with two successive victories, both at home, to lead the standings, but has since slid to seventh place, collecting just one point from a possible nine.
