Iraklis through to cup’s fifth round

Iraklis advanced to the fifth round of the Greek Cup yesterday by defeating third-division club Ethnikos-Olympiakos Volos 1-0 away. The Super League side was held by its lower-tier opponent until the 75th minute of play when striker Yiannis Chloros broke the deadlock for Iraklis. Fourth-round cup action continues today with Ethnikos Asteras at home against Panathinaikos and Kastoria greeting Panionios. Tomorrow, third-division Fostiras host AEK and Ethnikos greets OFI. Meanwhile, a dispute between PAS Preveza and Veria, following the latter’s 2-1 win at Preveza, remains unresolved. PAS Preveza claims Veria should be eliminated for not selecting two players under the age of 21 in their squad, as required by new Greek Cup regulations.
