AEK, OFI reach last 16 in cup
AEK and OFI overcame lower-league opposition last night to advance to the Greek Cup’s last 16, beating Fostiras and Ethnikos respectively. Playing at Rizoupoli – a bigger stadium than its own – for commercial reasons, third-division club Fostiras held Super League leader AEK in the first half. Brazilian Julio Cesar opened the scoring for AEK on 59 minutes and Pantelis Kapetanos sealed the win with a second goal four minutes from time. OFI survived a challenge from second-division team Ethnikos. Visiting OFI went ahead in the 66th minute but Ethnikos struck back in the 90th minute. OFI scored the winner in the last minute of extra time with a penalty.
