European basketball giants clash in Athens

Two major contenders for Euroleague Final Four places, Panathinaikos, the competition’s only undefeated team after six rounds of play, and Real Madrid clash in a highly anticipated Group C game in Athens tonight. «We’re up against a very good team that tends to pick and roll and with tremendous ability on the open court,» noted Panathinaikos coach Zelimir Obradovic, who added that his team «definitely needs to work hard to stay unbeaten.» Also tonight, Aris is hosted by Maccabi in Group B. Both clubs, on 4-2 records, share second place. Both can co-lead the group with victory tonight. Front-runner Unicaja lost 91-75 at Efes Pilsen last night and now shares top place with Lietuvos Rytas, a 93-59 winner over Cibona. Both are on 5-2 records. Olympiakos, second in Group A, was hosted later last night by Italian club Montepaschi Sienna. Both went into the game sharing second place.
