Acropolis Rally begins today

Greek driver Aris Vovos has been drafted in to take the wheel of the second car of the Munchi’s Ford World Rally Team at the Acropolis Rally which starts today. Argentine Federico Villagra will again drive the team’s number one Ford Focus RS WRC. It will be the 14th time that the 43-year-old Vovos, who is also president of Maroussi basketball club, has taken part in the Acropolis Rally since 1993. His best result came four years ago when he finished eighth in a Ford Focus RS WRC. This is his first event of the 2008 championship. «The Acropolis Rally has always been the most important event of my annual program,» said Vovos who will be joined by regular co-driver «El-Em» Loris Meletopoulos. Defending World Rally champion Sebastien Loeb won the last event in Sardinia to close the gap on the current championship leader, Ford’s Mikko Hirvonen, to just three points.
