Baghdatis reaches Round 2

Cypriot tennis star Marcos Baghdatis advanced to the second round of Wimbledon yesterday after seeing off Belgian Steve Darcis. Playing on a sunny day, the Number 10 seed of the tournament won 3-1 (6-3, 6-2, 6-7, 6-3) over the player ranked 45 in the West London tournament and is hoping to better his 2006 achievement of reaching the semifinals. Last year, he went as far as the quarterfinals. He will have to improve upon his eight double faults against the Belgian. In the second round, Baghdatis will face 33-year-old Swede Thomas Johansson.
