PAOK to sign Pablo Garcia

PAOK is close to completing the signing of one of the most notable soccer players ever to join the Thessaloniki club, Uruguay international midfielder Pablo Garcia. The former Real Madrid player on Wednesday agreed to sign a two-year contract with coach Fernando Santos’s club. He is now expected to arrive in Thessaloniki this weekend to complete the transfer. Real had released him 10 days earlier and PAOK will sign him as a free agent, offering him about 1 million euros in total. The 31-year-old defensive midfielder has already got 66 caps with his country and is the national team’s captain. Apart from Real Madrid, he has played for AC Milan, Venezia, Osasuna, Celta Vigo and Murcia. The news of his and of Bosnian striker Zlatan Muslimovic’s arrival at PAOK has generated great enthusiasm among the club’s fans. They have already broken last year’s record number of season tickets sold, approaching 15,000.
