Hoopsters get back to training
The national basketball team has returned to its training schedule ahead of its trip to Beijing for the Olympic Games. Following a four-day break, coach Panayiotis Yiannakis brought his players back to training at the OAKA sports center in Athens, beginning on Thursday. Absent from the first training session were forward Yiannis Bourousis, who had a fever, and center Sofoklis Schortsanitis, who was experiencing stomach problems. Schortsanitis had actually continued training during the other players’ four-day break, under the guidance of assistant coach Lefteris Kakiousis. Guard Nikos Zisis, who was injured in last week’s Olympic qualification tournament, was present but followed a separate, personal program intended to bring him up to the pace of the rest of the team.
