Tennis outsider aces Spanish tournament

Young Greek tennis player Anna Gerasimou won a tournament that concluded last weekend in Spain as she prepares to take part in the Beijing Olympics. The 20-year-old, who has a world ranking of 251, defeated Portugal’s Neuza Silva (the world’s No 192) 2-1 sets in the final of the tournament in La Coruna, northwestern Spain, after an excellent performance that bodes well for her chances at next month’s Olympic Games. This is the second international tournament she has won in her career, following her triumph last year at the $25,000 Mont-de-Marsan event in France.
