A cautious Olympiakos

Olympiakos is hosting Denmark’s Nordsjaelland tomorrow (9.45 p.m.) for the first round of soccer’s UEFA Cup, aiming to hold onto or build on its two-goal, first-leg lead and advance to the group stage of the competition. Coach Ernesto Valverde stated yesterday that «although we know we have won 2-0 in Denmark, we will view it as a fresh match that we are obliged to win. The most dangerous matches are those that people do not assess properly.» He urged players as well as fans not to think of the big league derby with AEK that is scheduled for Sunday and stressed there will be several changes to the lineup that shared a goalless draw with OFI in Crete last Saturday. In addition to Ieroklis Stoltidis, who is injured, Valverde will confine Dudu Cearense to the bench ahead of the AEK game and possibly give a chance to Costas Mitroglou, Giorgos Galitsios, Michal Zewlakow, Tasos Pantos and Costas Mendrinos. Olympiakos fans are expected to fill some 20,000 of the seats at the Karaiskaki Stadium in Piraeus.
