PAOK’s Pedoulakis axed and rehired in space of 2 days

In a comical couple of days at the PAOK basketball club, coach Argyris Pedoulakis was told on Monday that he was fired, another two officials resigned in protest and then yesterday everyone was reinstated to their posts. Upon hearing he was not needed anymore, Pedoulakis said he would not resign and would require compensation. This led to PAOK officials Nikos Boudou-ris and Giorgos Balo-yiannis preparing to hold a press conference yesterday afternoon to explain why they would also quit. Then suddenly everything changed yesterday, as PAOK owner Dimitris Drosos was obviously not prepared to pay Pedoulakis compensation, so the coach appeared at the training session as usual. The two officials also revoked their resignations. In a separate development yesterday, Bosnian international Damir Mulaomerovic reportedly agreed to return to PAOK. He will undergo a medical test and sign his contract for the rest of the season. PAOK is today involved in a knockout Greek Cup game at Olympia Larissas, while Olympiada Patras will entertain Trikala. In the games played yesterday, AEK beat Larissa 70-74 away and Ilissiakos returned from Xanthi with a tight 67-69 win. In the next round, Ilissiakos will host AEK.
