Hoops galore in All-Star Game

In what was sure to be an impressive evening of basketball, the Greek All-Stars defeated the selection of the best foreign players in the Greek league, the World All-Stars, 127-93 in Xanthi yesterday. In the 17th All-Star Weekend of the Greek league, the Greek players showed they had much more interest in the contest than their rivals, but everyone enjoyed a wonderful game thrilling thousands of fans in the city of Thrace. Olympiakos’s Yiannis Bourousis scored 23 points to grab the Most Valuable Player award. Thodoris Papaloukas registered 18 points, Dimitris Diamantidis and Andreas Glyniadakis notched up 14 each. Mike Batiste scored 17 points for the World All-Stars. In the three-point contest, the winner was Larissa’s Dimitris Karadolamis, who beat Olympiakos’s Yotam Halperin in the final. Kavala’s William Daniels won the slam dunk competition but in one of his efforts he managed to break the basket, delaying the second half of the All-Star Game by about 30 minutes.
