Hoopsters get back to work

Greek basketball is returning to the nitty-gritty of the domestic league after the glory of two Greeks teams taking part in the Euroleague Final Four last weekend and Panathinaikos becoming the champions of Europe for the fifth time in its history. Now the Greens will be raising the curtain on the semifinal phase of the A1 league playoffs tonight as they host Aris in Game 1 of the best-of-five series that will offer a ticket to the championship final. The match starts at 6 p.m. at the Olympic Sports Hall, which will probably be full to capacity as Panathinaikos fans are preparing to honor the new European champions. The club also has some surprises in store for the attending fans. Tomorrow sees the start of the other semifinal series as Olympiakos will try to put the Final Four failure behind it and defeat Maroussi. The two teams are meeting in the semifinal of the league for the second year in succession. Tomorrow’s game tips off at 6 p.m. at the Peace and Friendship Stadium in Piraeus.
