Andreadis wins gold in the World ORC Championship

Greece’s Giorgos Andreadis took the gold medal in the World ORC Championship, the biggest international open-sea sailing event that wound up last weekend in Brindisi, Italy. Andreadis finished first ahead of 35 boats with Meliti IV in the seven-race championship. He incurred only 24.75 penalty points and easily beat off the challenge of Italian boats Man and I.Nova that had 35.25 and 44 penalty points respectively. 470 Juniors In the 470 Class Junior World Championships, currently being held off the coast of Thessaloniki, the race started yesterday as the first day was canceled on Sunday due to strong winds of up to 36 knots. After yesterday’s action, Spain’s Tara Pacheco and Berta Betanzos lead the women’s category with seven penalty points, ahead of Germany’s Tina Lutz and Susann Beucke with nine points. In the mixed category, Victor Bergstrom and Marcus Dackhammer of Sweden lead with seven points. The race concludes on Saturday, July 18.
