Enzo Maresca signs contract with Reds
Olympiakos has signed Sevilla’s Enzo Maresca for the next three years, the Greek soccer champion announced yesterday. The Italian international midfielder will receive 1.5 million euros per year while Sevilla collects 1 million euros for letting the 29-year-old go. «Olympiakos is a club everyone knows in Europe and has a monopoly in titles in Greece. It has got used to the winning mentality and this matches my own mentality,» said Maresca, who has already joined the rest of the squad in its pre-season training. In a friendly game played in the Netherlands yesterday, Olympiakos beat Dutch second-division side Zwolle 3-0, having defeated Dutch cup winner Heerenveen 1-0 on Saturday. Meanwhile, Panathinaikos and Swedish side Goteborg reached an agreement yesterday for the transfer of 23-year-old Sweden Under-21 captain Mattias Bjaersmyr. The central defender will cost Panathinaikos 450,00 euros and is expected to arrive in Athens today to sign his four-year contract with the Greens after undergoing a medical test. He will earn about 400,000 euros per season. Tomorrow Panathinaikos will play its first friendly game in Austria against German side Greuther Furth and on Friday it faces Hoffenheim.
