A three-star Olympiakos

Olympiakos has temporarily taken the lead in the table of the soccer Super League as Panathinaikos is due to play Larissa tonight. The Reds had no problems facing Levadiakos away on Saturday, winning 3-0 and scoring all goals in the first half. The opener came just four minutes into the game through Oscar Gonzalez, with Dudu adding the second in the 29th minute from the penalty spot and Diogo sealing it for Olympiakos five minutes from half-time. Levadiakos had no answer for the Olympiakos attacks and could only manage a few chances in the second half. PAS Yiannina scored an important win at home that was a virtual six-pointer over fellow new-boys Kavala. The Epirus side’s 2-1 win does not do justice to the game, as Kavala had most of the goal-scoring chances, but PAS translated its biggest opportunities into goals through Giorgos Saitiotis, with Kavala reducing the deficit through substitute Ilias Ioannou in injury time. In the third game played on Saturday, Panthrakikos and Aris shared a 1-1 draw in the northern city of Komotini. This was the first point Panthrakikos has earned in the league this season. The hosts took the lead after 10 minutes thanks to a Joao Fajardo penalty but Aris went back on level terms at the end of the first half through Flavio. Panthrakikos ended the game with 10 men, due to the red card that Daniel Orac saw in the 90th minute. Today sees the second part of the sixth round of the Super League, with Panathinaikos looking to maintain its 100 percent record in the championship when it plays Larissa at the capital’s Olympic Stadium at 9.15 p.m. At 4.45 p.m. two Athens clubs that have found themselves in the relegation zone, Panionios and Atromitos, are facing off in Nea Smyrni. At the same time, third-placed Asteras Tripolis is hosting Ergotelis. At 7 p.m. AEK will be facing Xanthi away from home, its morale lifted after its 1-0 win over Benfica in the Europa League, while PAOK hosts Iraklis in another Thessaloniki derby.
