Iraklis sacks Brokking and returns to wins

One day after the sacking of Dutch coach Harry Brokking, Iraklis’s volleyball team returned to winning ways in the league, downing host Panellinios 3-1 in Athens yesterday. The Thessaloniki club had stated on Tuesday that Brokking, also the coach of Great Britain, had «failed to meet expectations» and would be replaced by his assistant, Freddy Brooks. Iraklis remained joint third along with EA Patras, which defeated Apollon Kalamarias by the same score at Thessaloniki. Leader Olympiakos had no problems in dismissing Aris 3-0 at home and stays one point ahead of Panathinaikos, which maintained its perfect away record with a 3-0 victory at PAOK. Panathinaikos has conceded 11 sets so far this season, all of them at home. AEK moved up to sixth with a solid 3-0 home win over relegation-threatened Kifissia, as Lamia returned from Syros on Tuesday with a 3-1 win over bottom side Finikas Syrou. Olympiakos leads the table with 33 points, Panathinaikos has 32, while Iraklis and EA Patras follow with 29. Panellinios is a distant fifth with just 19 points.
