PAOK ousts Dermitzakis, eyes new foreign coach

PAOK announced yesterday the end of its cooperation with soccer coach Pavlos Dermitzakis, following the team’s 1-0 loss to Panathinaikos on Saturday night. «PAOK announces that its cooperation with Pavlos Dermitzakis has ended by common consent. We warmly thank the coach for his contribution in reaching our European target and we wish him all the best for the rest of his career,» the club’s statement read. PAOK, which is facing a very tough match on Thursday for the Europa League at Villarreal, is reported to have four candidates under consideration to become their third manager for the season. They are Radomir Antic from Serbia, Italian Roberto Donadoni, French Paul Le Guen and Christian Gross of Germany, all particularly expensive. It is certain that the Thessaloniki club will be aiming at hiring a foreign coach, the second this season after Italian Mario Beretta, who was dismissed over the summer. Larissa manager Yiannis Papacostas was also under pressure last night in the aftermath of his side’s home loss to Asteras Tripolis.
