Former Greece soccer striker Fanis Gekas improved his already amazing scoring rate this season, adding two more goals to his tally for Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. Gekas scored once in each half to lead Eintracht to a 3-1 away win over St Pauli at Hamburg, the first one coming from a penalty he both won and took. He has therefore scored nine goals in the league this year, staying alone at the top of the scorers’ chart. He also has 11 in all competitions. Notably, Gekas has scored all but one of the league goals away from home, in what was the fourth away win for the Frankfurt so far in the Bundesliga. Before the match, his coach at Eintracht, Michael Skibbe, had stated: «Gekas reminds me of Gerd Muller,» referring to one of the most prolific European scorers of all times.
