Calling all Pushkin fans

Russian literature buffs and others will relish some forthcoming events at the Stoa tou Vivliou book arcade in central Athens. An exhibition of books and documents related to the poet, short-story writer and dramatist Pushkin will be opened by Russian Ambassador Mihail Bocharnikov on March 12, at 12.30 p.m. On March 17 at 8 p.m., Professor Sonia Ilinskaya and poet Katerina Anghelaki-Rooke will speak at the poetic forum on «Alexander S. Pushkin – The Discourse of Infinity» (at 5 Pesmazoglou & Stadiou, tel 210.325.3989). New books Among the new titles coming out next week, two promise to be of particular interest. «Philadelfos,» the Greek translation of Petrie Harbouri’s book «The Brothers Carburi» (Patakis), is being launched on Tuesday, March 11 at the Patakis bookstore, at 65 Academias, at 7 p.m. The author and the translator, Alexis Panselinos, also a noted writer, will be speaking (tel 210.381.1850). «Early Photographic Panoramas of Greece» (Potamos), by Evi Antonatou and Marie Mauzy in collaboration with collector Michalis G. Tsangaris, shows Greece as it once was. The book launch is to be at the Danish Institute (14a Hairefontos, Aghia Katerini, Plaka) at 7.30 p.m. Fani Constantinou, director of the Benaki Museum’s Photography Archive, journalist Nikos Bakounakis and historian Vassias Tsokopoulos will introduce the album (tel 210.723.1271).
